Crazy Derby Days
By: ryan_s | January 27th, 2013Hamburg against Bremen is often an exciting dual, but this one was particularly crazy! Two red cards, several controversial referee decisions and five goals all packed into ninety minutes of delicious Hamburg victory. Heung Min Son had a delightful game (his Traumtor aided by a shockingly bad Selassie and a very mediocre Mielitz), and Jansen was quite active, but let’s all take a moment to congratulate Dennis Aogo on his first goal for Hamburg after 117 appearances. Not only that – but after this incredibly difficult season for him, and following some pretty poor performances, he really put in a shining all around game when the team really needed it.
I’ll be back with player ratings and all that jazz later. For now air your thoughts below! Nur der HSV!

Ryan…agreed about Aogo. He played really well today and he’s looking HSV’s main threat going forward. A good win and a few decent individual performances but Adler is worrying me. He looks very shaky and really needs to start claiming more crosses instead of punching them or staying on his line. His confidence looks low.
Nice to see both strikers get a goal but this was far from a great HSV performance. Far too many misplaced passes and strays off-side, although it should be said that the pitch hindered good football.

Exciting match, and really great to see Aogo have such a good game. I’m quite happy to see Son and Rudnevs alternating goals. Hope to see that continue even if they don’t score in the same match.
Of all the players, I actually find that Van der Vaart seems to be lacking. I still think he is very important to the team and probably does a lot more on the field than I’m noticing, but it seems that most of the good play is coming from the wings instead of through him. . But it’s nice to see that the wide play actually works this season!

Great game today. Good to see the players fired up for the derby, especially during the second half. I’m surprised that Aogo’s goal today is his first for Hamburg — I swear I remember him scoring from a free kick just outside the box last season. Regardless, congratulations to Aogo! I agree that VdV has not been playing great lately, but we all know his class — I am not worried. Adler looked shaky today, but again, I’m not too worried about our MVP for the first half of the season.

It was an excellent result yesterday. Beating Bremen is always joyful.
I didn’t see the game, but from what I read the midfield was poor in the first half (except for Aogo, who was excellent). Son and Rudnevs were both very good. From the highlights, Son’s goal was spectacular. His price-tag continues to grow.
Mark Loch, you are correct in that Aogo has scored for HSV before, but it was in a DFB pokal game, I think. A beautiful free kick.
Enjoy this victory over Bremen, guys.

Looks like Scharner is on his way out. Apparently he feels his ability to be injured or suspended could be better used in the EPL.
Nice to hear Aogo had a great game. As was evidenced in the Enke tragedy, depression is nothing to be taken lightly.
Now, on to rooting for Hamburgers > Frankfurters!

With Mancienne getting injured, I worried a little bit about the Scharner exit, but then we actually saw Rajkovic get subbed in at the end of the last match, so I remembered there is still a half-decent backup CB in case Westermann or Bruma get injured. And Rajkovic is just as likely to get a red card as Scharner was, so all is good!
Too bad about Mancienne’s injury, but it’s good to see Bruma get some playing time too. I’m sure Westermann will be around for a long time yet, but having 2 more young quality CBs is a bonus for Hamburg.

Mark – love your comments on Rajkovic. My prediction for the end of the season is that Rajkovic will end up being an HSV hero and completely take everybody off guard. But yeah, besides his red card stuff he really isn’t bad – I actually really liked him as a player before all of his nonsense came out.

Scharner was excellent for Wigan on Saturday. He is also capabale of scoring a few goals, so I would have liked to see him stay. But it’s no doubt a money related decision (i.e. HSV need to save on costs)

Thanks for your tips. One thing I’ve got noticed is the fact that banks and also financial institutions have in mind the spending routines of consumers and as well understand that many people max out there their credit cards around the trips. They sensibly take advantage of this specific fact and begin flooding a person’s inbox plus snail-mail box by using hundreds of Zero APR credit cards offers shortly when the holiday season concludes. Knowing that for anyone who is like 98% of American open public, you’ll hop at the possiblity to consolidate financial debt and move balances to 0 annual percentage rates credit cards.
