New 3rd/Euro Kit

By: Chris | July 29th, 2008

In my last post, I wrote that the new 3rd/Euro kit (the strip to be worn in the UEFA Cup matches) was awful. I was wrong. It’s just blah.

The new kit is in the photo to the left, and will be worn with the new maroon shorts . It’s completely without character or redeeming qualities. I don’t like the maroon side panels and collar, but hey–that’s just me. BUT, apparently, I am the only person who thinks it’s bad. HSV made the change based on the feedback of supporters who felt that the old strip (see below) was too much like the old Bayern strip. I have already written that I really liked last year’s model. Clean lines, classic styling. And it looked freaking great on the players when worn with the black shorts.

What do y’all think?

i agree with you, chris — it’s pretty blah, and definitely not as classy as last year’s. the maroon shorts look a bit weird to me. black was definitely nicer.

on an unrelated note, but continuing on in this present spirit of preseason frivolity, does anyone know of any fantasy leagues that i might be able to join? i know kicker.de has a fantasy game, but, stunningly, none of my baseball-watching american friends want to make a league with me.

Mike from this post http://bundesliga.theoffside.com/teams/new-bayern-munich-jerseys-the-musical.html#comments doesn’t like Baseball. Maybe he could join you instead. ;-)

The Offside actually had its’ own fantasy league last season:

Oh dear, I’m not a fan of the ketchup-poured-over-an-old-tomato color scheme of this kit. Perhaps it will look better on.

Of course, studies say that teams wearing red score and win more, so maybe Hamburg management has decided to go all out this year. :)

    Eh…

That is all I can say regarding the third/Euro kit, Chris.

I can’t stand that they dropped the red one from last year–it was my favorite of the 3.
