Selling their two central defenders van Buyten and Boulahrouz was considered one reason for Hamburg's drop to the relegation places. But he replaced van Buyten with Kompany and Boulahrouz with Mathisjen and made some money at the same time. Kompany won the best Belgian player award, while van Buyten didn't make the top three. Boulahrouz is only sitting on the bench in the Dutch national team, while Mathisjen makes the starting XI. Not bad. I wonder whether HSV stacking up their midfield with so many young players, is really an indicator, that they won't use the vdV millions to bring in another superstar, but hope one of the young players makes his breakthrough. It seems they are also interested in Michael Bradley, who Dutch side Heerenveen hope to sell in the summer to turn a profit, before the contract runs out...
