that was a bit ugly for me, the stream i was watching put it well (albeit in german), that both teams spent the first half making mistakes, and jansen (up to that point) was the only real chance. We still need to up the ante on the road.
nevertheless, im a happy camper!

also, that last penalty was kinda sad to watch…

Hamburg top their group with 6pts and +2gd ahead of Aston Villa (6pts/+1) and Ajax (6pts/+1). This makes for an interesting final matchday. Ajax host Prague and since Prague no longer has anything to play for, I currently rate Ajax as most probable group winners. I’m also not sure whether finishing 2nd or 3rd in the group is better. The 2nd placed team could face teams like Fiorentina and Zenit St. Petersburg from the Champions League. 3rd gets another UEFA Cup table topper…

Jan, apparently there is an exclusive (in capital letters as well) from Goal.com in regards to what Olic’s agent has to say of the news. That Olic is not heading to Juventus.

The news out of Hamburg is that the young “stars”–Chrisantus, Ben-Hatira, and Odjidja-Ofoe–will all be loaned out soon. Loanee Anton Putsilo is already training with Spartak Moscow, so he’s gone too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Olic’s agent leaked some information to the press, to put more pressure on Hamburg. I think Hamburg shouldn’t bend over backwards to extend Olic’s contract though. Keeping a balanced and manageable wage structure inside the club is very important, otherwise you end up with a significantly higher wage bill but without significantly better players. And Olic does have his limitations and I’m personally still looking forward to see Chrisantus and Choupo-Moting rocking the Bundesliga.

A priority for Hamburg should be the extension of de Jong’s contract.
