Reader Choice Awards, Part I
By: Chris | June 2nd, 2009In keeping with last week’s theme of post-season awards, I wanted to allow the readers to vote for their choices for the awards. Up first: Most Valuable Player. The criteria: Unlike Player of the Year, MVP is the one guy who alone was most valuable to the side.

Must be David Jarolim for organizing and running Hamburg’s midfield at a consistently high level. I save my votes for Jansen or Petric for the best new signing award.

As I wrote in the other post, I was really torn between Mathijsen and Petric. I may have to give the nod to Joris in this one. . .

Hi guys. As a newer HSV fan (since 2007/08 season), it’s nice to read your blog to get your take on the team. My vote for MVP goes to Olic because he always seemed to get a crucial goal when we needed one. My second pick would be Trochowski though, and I think if he leaves it will be a big blow for next season. One more honourable mention = Frank Rost

To Jan’s point, our good friend Double Pivot over at the Bundesliga Talk named Jarolim to his 2009 Side of the Year.
