Sad news
By: Chris | June 17th, 2009Ran across this story today while trying to vet a comment I read on a MoPo article this morning.
Sylvie van Der Vaart, the lovely and talented TV-presenter-wife of our boy Rafa, recently underwent surgery for breast cancer. Sylvie’s prognosis for recovery and cure is good, as the cancer was detected in its early stages. As part of her treatment protocol, she will need to undergo a course of chemotherapy this summer.
I hope that I speak for all HSV supporters (and citizens of Hamburg) when I say that I wish Sylvie the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. Of course, this news allows the Hamburg Offside to post more pictures of our favorite WAG . . .

By the way, the comment I have been trying to vet was on a radio report that HSV had signed Twente striker Eljero Elia . . .

I had read about Sylvie’s condition as well. I can only wish her all the best in recovery.

Ah, Chris.
Those pictures only serve make me miss probably one of the most beautiful WAGs around. Sigh!Regarding Eljero Elia…I remembered once reading that he was linked to Ajax as well. But then it was in view of BMJ being the coach over there.

Oh no! I’m very sorry to hear of it. I wish her the best, not because she’s rich and pretty, but because she’s just another person.

Hmm I’m not too sure about it now to be honest. Jol is trying to sign him but Twente for obvious reasons are in no mood to make their rivals stronger. HSV have already tabled in an offer of 8M but Twente are willing to wait until a big offer comes (most likely from an English club)
And Cana is no longer an issue, he said he wants to stay and thats it.

of course not as important in the “real world”
but an interesting bit from sport1:

looks like we wont have Beiersdorfer and Hoffmann by summer’s endPosted from

Hamburg are really a surprise package with apparently unlimited potential for conflict and tension hidden inside. First Martin Jol suddenly jumps ship and now either the director of football or the chairman could be gone. And the result of all this internal upheaval are exactly zero new signings…

It’s nice to hear that Beiersdorfer and Hoffmann will gone in this Summer. These 2 guy always sale the key players away and never satisfy the salary demand of important players. Hamburg cannot get a good result due to this kind of management

Glad you pointed that out, Jan. No reinforcements of any kind so far. If this drags on, oh well…Posted from

Damn. Just read something regarding the person HSV is interested in. According to reports out of Holland today, FC Twente chairman Joop Munsterman had revealed that they had received a bid from the HSV and it is around 8million euros.
