I think Bradley would fit Hamburg’s transfer philosophy as well. I think he could play on both Jarolim’s and Trochowski’s position, so that would add some depth and healthy competition inside the squad. Though I wonder whether they might decide to give Trochowski a chance without putting a vdV replacement in front of him. They could take the risk if they get a good striker.

Choupo Moting is still recovering from a lengthy injury, but he is the type of player who could play in Guerrero’s position as well, and he is a very highly rated youngster. So I wonder whether a loan deal with some big club might be a possibility? Wouldn’t cost Hamburg that much money and they would win time for their talents to get into Bundesliga shape…

I thought that Michael Bradley fit the HSV transfer “profile” very well–young, experienced, talented and unproven at in a larger league, and therefore, cheap–and had come to the conclusion that he would be a great fit, but an unlikely move. Another plus is that he is coming from the Eredivisie. Vennegor of Hesselink also fits that profile, except for the young part.

Zizzou will be playing on the flanks and if they need him to play in the middle, I see him more as someone coming off the bench.

Guerrero’s problem is that while he immensely talented, but he is so wildly incosistent.

Zidan is a player for the wings but Hamburg are looking for a central striker like Guerrero just 2-3 times better.

- Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink
- Roman Pavlyuchenko
- Klaas Jan Huntelaar

Though, the latter two would be a) too expensive b) would only join one of the big clubs.

Midfield options:
- Michael Bradley
- Ibrahim Afellay

Also rumor has it, that Didi Beiersdorfer was in France yesterday. Initially people thought it was about central defender Marko Basa, but Basa just joined another club already, so he probably was after someone completely different.

Chris, I have this ‘policy’ of mine regarding the English tabloids. I don’t trust whatever transfer rumours coming out of there. Period.
